Safer to mow and walk
Stumps break mower blades and trip kids and guests, especially once grass grows up around them.

Stumps ground below grade so you can reseed, plant or build. We clean up the chips too.
A stump is the last thing left after a tree comes down, and it can hang around for decades. We grind it out below the surface with a stump grinder, chip up the root flare and leave the spot level, so you can mow over it, seed it or plant something new.
One stump or a whole yard full, fresh stumps or ones that have been there for years. We protect your lawn, clean up the chips and leave the hole filled and ready for topsoil and seed.

Leaving a stump to rot can take 10 years or more, and it causes problems the whole time.

Many stumps, like maple, poplar and sweetgum, keep sending up sprouts for years until the stump is ground out.
Rotting stumps draw termites, carpenter ants and fungus, and they can spread to healthy trees and wood structures nearby.
Grind it out and you can reseed, plant a new tree, lay a patio or build where the stump used to be.
For almost every yard, grinding is faster, cheaper and less destructive. Full removal is only needed in a few cases.
| Stump grinding | Full stump removal | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Grinds the stump and root flare into chips below grade | Digs out the stump and main roots |
| Lawn impact | A small, shallow hole that is easy to fill and seed | A large hole and torn-up lawn around it |
| Best for | Lawns, garden beds and replanting nearby | Building a foundation or footing in the exact spot |
| Cost and time | Lower cost, usually under an hour per stump | Higher cost, more equipment and time |
Most stumps take less than an hour.

We check for irrigation, buried cables and lines near the stump before we grind.
The stump and root flare are ground into chips below the surface.

"After a big storm took down a 60-foot oak right next to our house, I was panicking. These guys were out the same evening, had it safely removed by the next morning, and left the yard spotless."
"We had three huge trees removed from our backyard, one right over the deck. I was nervous about damage, but the crew was meticulous. They used ropes and rigging and not a single branch touched anything."
"They trimmed all eight of our mature maples and did an outstanding job shaping them. The arborist explained everything beforehand and clearly cared about the health of the trees, not just getting done fast."
We grind below grade, typically 6 to 12 inches below the surface, which is deep enough to seed grass or plant flowers. If you plan to build or plant a new tree in the same spot, tell us and we will go deeper.
Grinding removes the stump and the root flare. The remaining roots under the lawn are left to break down naturally over the next few years, and they will not regrow on most species once the stump is gone.
We can rake the chips back into the hole, haul them away or leave them for mulch. Most customers have us fill the hole with chips and topsoil so it is ready to seed.
